Are all libraries the same? In a lot of discourse it’s assumed they are; that all libraries are in much the same business.
But is a school library to be compared with a business library? A hospital library with a public library?

Library 2.0 or the read/write library- call it what you will- has brought this into sharp focus.
Is a library a collection of information, to be accessed and manipulated in whatever way best suits the consumer?
Or is it also a place where that access and manipulation can be shared, challenged, celebrated, nurtured etc?
Are libraries about information [...]


Right now I see this as the basic question that needs addressing.
Are libraries about information? Reading? Empowerment?
Are they places, or idea(l)s?
Do we need physical libraries, whether at home or in our communities?
