Reading; or, the world is only flat where you are

CILIP Update do it. Michael Stephens, as a lecturer, does it. Reviewers do it.

Recommend books for reading that is.

Have I followed the recommendations? Not often, although some of the books on Michael’s list look interesting.

Today I am not going to recommend a book so much as recommend a set of books for gentle perusal. Old books on librarianship. I pick them up when I can. To borrow a phrase, they are fascinating windows into the ‘history of the future of libraries.’

Right now I’m looking at a Teach Yourself Librarianship from the 60s. More on its vision of the future later.
